Budhwar

Budhwar is a clan or gotra of Jats found in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana in India. .Maharaja Budh was son of Maharaja Chandra. Chandravans in Hindus started after Maharaja Chandra. Budhwars are descendant of Maharaja Budh. Budhwar jats inhabit villages Ismailpur, Himpur, Narainkheda of Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh and village Sunari of Rohtak in Haryana.

Babylon inscription writes them as Budi. Herodotus has also mentioned Budi. Persians have written for them as Pootia. Bible mentions about this clan as Phoot. Budhwar clan finds mention in Puranic literature as well as in Sabhaparva and Bhismparva in Mahabharata. Historical facts indicate that Budhwar clan people had one or two small kingdoms in Babilon and Persia.

In 7th and 8th century Budhwars were in Sindh and Balochistan, where they had gone as Bodhis.
