Bucks County Community College

Bucks County Community College (BCCC) is a two-year community college located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia. Founded in 1964, BCCC has three campuses: a main campus in Newtown, an "upper county" campus in the town of Perkasie, and a "lower county" campus in the town of Bristol. There are also various satellite facilities located throughout the county.

The mission of Bucks County Community College is "...go provide to the County's diverse population of learners accessible, affordable, convenient, and comprehensive educational, training, and cultural opportunities that will equip them to be competent and effective in their work and as citizens of the world." The College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

The main Newtown campus is located on a former estate that Bucks County acquired in very early 1965 from Temple University, which had inherited it from Stella Elkins Tyler, a wealthy benefactor, only two years before.

In May 2006, construction began adjacent to where the Bristol campus is housed now to build two new buildings that will add and permanently house more classrooms and labs. Construction is slated to be complete in Fall 2007. Currently, the College rents out space at the Bucks County Office Center (formerly Del-Haas High School).

BCCC offers courses via face-to-face classroom-based instruction, as eLearning classes offered completely online, and in hybrid modes that combine face-to-face instruction with online learning. "Where to learn....where to return."

By valuing the ability to analyze and make reasoned judgments, we may gain insights into ourselves and our world and a greater understanding of the interdependency of all things. By valuing the ability to communicate, we may give expression to our vision of the world where people can work cooperatively to improve their environment and the condition of their lives.

We believe that the curriculum of Bucks County Community College must endeavor to nurture such values and foster such skills. It must seek to empower its students by making them aware of the influences that affect their lives and confident of their ability to effect change in their lives and in the world. It must help them to make connections among disciplines, help them develop an integrated view of knowledge, and help them recognize that their use of knowledge always carries consequences, as well as moral and ethical responsibilities.
