When I create stubs, they usually meet notability requirements

"A musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, hip hop crew, dj etc) is notable if it meets any one of the following criteria:

  • Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise extremely notable; note that it is often most appropriate to use redirects in place of articles on side projects, early bands and such.

Considering that Joe Daniels of Local H is a member of the group, I figured that qualifies as raison d'ĂȘtre for the stub.

FWIW, the other band referenced in the article (i.e. Imaginary Playground), was featured on at least one nationally syndicated programme... Folajimi 21:53, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

I agree with your reasoning Folajimi. I have removed the speedy deletion tag from this article. However if others disagree with this, then I suggest that they nominate this article for an AfD. That way a consensus can decide whether or not to keep this article. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 18:20, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nominator concurs with subject's notability

This was basically nominated for speedy by mistake, and I wasn't sure if I was entitled to remove my own speedy template. I'm glad this article was kept, because it is well formatted, informative, and provides context to determine notability. Ben Kidwell 19:55, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Under what circumstances can an article be "nominated for speedy by mistake"??? Folajimi(talk)
When you are a new editor doing newpages patrol with lots of open windows and in one window you have a thoroughly NN band bio ("Deathcheese is a band just formed from the musical all-stars of Lincoln high school. Our first show is scheduled for the talent show next wednesay") and in another window you have the Bruiser article, and you accidentally paste the template into the wrong window. It was a newbie mistake, don't bite me please. The system worked, the page was correctly identified as non-speedyable, and I've learned to be a better editor. Happy ending!Ben Kidwell 18:34, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
Far be it from me to attribute your behaviour to malice; I was just curious about your motives. There are individuals whom I shall politely refer to as deletionists, who inconsiderably delete articles with reckless abandon. It is rare to find those who give the author the opportunity to defend the validity. So, when you said you did it "...by mistake...", I was wondering if it could shed some light as to why articles get rapidly deleted by IPs. Based on your responses, one can only assume that you are not one of such.
That is all. Folajimi(talk)

What must be understood is that everyday dozens of non notable bands try to add their own articles to wikipedia to gain some sense of notability or something. Hence there exists a lot of these articles which get deleted. While Ben Kidwell originally nominated this, he has since stated he believed it to be a mistake. We're all only human, and it's not that big of a deal. Thanks for the article, lets see if we can't make it better. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 21:02, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Since I started contributing to Wikipedia, several stubs I authored have been deleted by various characters without explanation. Given how much energy it takes out of me to create those stubs -- more than words can explain -- I expected to at least be given the opportunity to defend the article.
When I first arrived, I created a stub on an individual who happened to be married to a notable subject. When the stub was deep-sixed without any warning, I asked ElBenevolente (the person who welcomed me) about the matter. That was when the whole notion of "notability" was explained to me. I concured, and vowed to be careful in the future.
In the weeks that followed, I have had a handful of articles scrapped without discussion. One of them was rescued by a Good Samaritan; another was resurrected after I provided another user with the same material I used for the stub. The rest have been consigned to oblivion without any recourse, which I find very hurtful. (I have no idea how many of the items I initiated have been shot down in this fashion. This is because the items vanish from my watchlist, and an automated processes to notify me of such incidents seems to be unavailable at this time.)
This would mark the second time when article I started was nominated for deletion; the outcome in both cases are the same. Like I said, I did not attribute the nominator's actions to malice; I was wondering why some are courteous enough to pursue the nomination process, while others resort to drive-by strikes...
