Bruce Abernethy (born May 10, 1962) is a former Australian rules footballer in the VFL/AFL and media personality.
[edit] VFL/AFL career
Abernethy made his debut in 1982 with North Melbourne and played 43 games in 2 seasons before being traded to Collingwood where he spent most of his career. After 58 games with the Pies, and bringing up his 100th VFL game, he returned back to the SANFL instead of continuing on with a VFL career. He then re-joined the league in 1991 with the Adelaide Crows, in what was the inaugural season. He spent two seasons there as a veteran footballer, playing only 11 games.
[edit] Post-football career
After his football career, he became a boundary rider for the Seven Network's AFL coverage in Adelaide. Bruce became main sports presenter at 7 in the early 1990's and presents the sport report in Seven News on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, and on Weekends so as to maximise his coverage of weekend AFL. Bruse also acted as a presenter during Seven's coverage of the 2000 Olympic games in Sydney
