[edit] Welcome

I find it quite remarkable that you've been editing since 2004 and no-one has yet dropped over here to welcome you to the project! Wikipedia:Welcome, newcomers isn't exactly appropriate here, so I'll just say thanks for contributing and I hope you enjoy your time editing here. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me, or try the friendly folk at the help desk. Ziggurat 00:43, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ric Romero, comment-removal vandalism

Regarding your removal of my comment. No-one said the admins *were* morons.

It was pretty obvious that the incomers from Fark *did* have a serious unbalancing effect on the discussion. Why should any admin have to read halfway through the article before getting to a snippet of important information which may have affected their judgement of the preceding comments? Yeah, chances are they probabably wouldn't have, and maybe it came across as slightly patronising, but so what? It wasn't telling them what to do.

No-one said that anon users' views were worthless simply because they were new. They *are* worth less if the usefulness of their comments relies on them being an unbiased cross-section of editors and/or users when they aren't. The {{afdanons}} makes this clear.

And what the hell made you think you have the right to remove comments anyway? The most you should have done would have been to remove the attention-grabbing formatting and place the comment in chronological order. This would have been merely stupid and counterproductive, as opposed to borderline vandalism. Fourohfour 19:01, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

As Always, you are more than welcome to report me to an admin if you think I did anything wrong. Untill then, I would suggest calming down and engaging in civil discussion, rather than the impotent "fuming about" you're engaging in now. Put the bat down, Wendy. I already discussed this matter with an admin before you posted that reply (response here). I think that discussion comes across as fairly level-headed, personally, but you're free to disagree.
FWIW, I didn't particularly like the comment myself, but in the absence of anything better, why remove it? Assuming you were acting in good faith, removing it was at best still unhelpful. Fourohfour 22:03, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
Hindsight being 20/20 and whatnot, I agree with the point that instead of outright removing the message, I should've removed only the attention grabbing bells, chimes, and whistles and relocated what was left into it's rightful place in the chat stream. My apologies about that. - Brother Dave Thompson 2:41, 23 April 2006 (PST)
