Browzar is a privacy web browser based on the Internet Explorer engine, and is freeware. It is currently in beta, and has been developed to ensure that all information created locally, whilst accessing the Internet, is deleted. Browzar ensures that no history, autocomplete, cookies, or cached files are left behind. It is possible to do this with other browsers; such as Mozilla Firefox using extensions such as "Stealther", but Browzar has been developed to best serve the majority of Internet users: those running Internet Explorer. Browzar is unique in that it has a small download size (204K) and does not require installation and only contains one executable file with no adware and spyware. So Browzar is a convenient, disposable tool which can be downloaded each time it is needed.
Early opinion shared on various blogs initially labelled Browzar as adware. This was probably due to the fact that Browzar's search engine shows sponsored links, and – in earlier releases - users could not customise the Browzar homepage. Browzar is not unique in that it shows sponsored links in search results; Mozilla Firefox is a good example of another Browser that does this. Also, users can now choose their own homepage in Browzar version 1.3.0.0, and Browzar has been verified as 'clean' by organisations such as "Softpedia"
Browzar received criticism because it did not delete all information about websites visited, and deleted files could still be recovered from the hard drive. Browzar version 1.3.0.0 now includes a built-in 'secure delete' option which works by shredding any files or information created during use; and session information is deleted from Index.dat files.
