Brothers (TV series)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Brothers was a TV show about the three Waters brothers, the youngest of whom was gay. The gay brother, Cliff (Paul Regina), came out of the closet in the premier episode. The act took place right before Cliff was to be married to a woman and left the entire wedding party in shock.

Many episodes centered around the efforts of Cliff's brothers Joe (Robert Walden), an ex-NFL kicker who now owned a sports bar called The Point After, and Lou (Brandon Maggart), a somewhat uncouth but well-meaning construction foreman, to alternately try to cope with Cliff's sexual orientation and "cure" him of it. Phillip Charles McKenzie played Cliff's out-and-proud new friend Donald Maltby, whose flamboyance unnerved the older Waters brothers. Other characters included Joe's daughter Penny (Hallie Todd), Lou's daughter Louella (Yeardley Smith), The Point After waitress Kelly (Robin Riker), and Joe's new wife Sam (Mary Ann Pascal).

The show aired for 5 seasons on American cable network Showtime from 1984 to 1989 and was produced by Paramount Television.
