Bromham is a village and civil parish in the English county of Wiltshire. Besides the main village of Bromham, there are five other settlements in the parish. These are Netherstreet, St Edith’s Marsh, Hawkstreet, Westbrook and Chittoe. Bromham and its civil parish all are within the postal code SN15, and are served by the Devizes telephone area code 01380 with the village having either 859/850 as the first 3 digits of the telephone number.

"Bromham has a small convenience shop open every day of the week from early till late, a family run butcher’s served from an abattoir in Westbrook and a post office, which is open Monday to Friday, except Wednesday afternoon." [1]

"St. Nicholas CofE school is the only primary school within the village; it has four classes, with approximately 90 students from the ages 4-11 years. Bromham falls into the catchment area of The John Bentley School in the nearby town of Calne. Two buses take the students from Bromham to and from John Bentley via either Heddington/Stockley or the more direct route via Mile Elm." [1]

Carnival
"The Bromham Carnival takes place every June for two weeks, it consists of village wide events, opening with the choosing of the carnival Queen, Butterfly Princess, Princess and Prince. The events then continue including quizzes, bingo, treasure hunts and much more. On the final Saturday of the two weeks the carnival procession is held, commencing usually at 2pm from The Pound playing field and winding its way through the village to the Social Centre playing field where activities and shows take place throughout the afternoon." Bromham is a civil parish with an elected parish council. It falls within the areas of Kennet District Council and Wiltshire County Council. All three councils are responsible for different aspects of local government.
In the 2002 census, the parish had a population of 1,807.

"Within Bromham there are two playing fields, The Pound playing field and the Social Centre's Jubilee and Millennium Fields. The Pound Playing field houses the village tennis court, a grassed football pitch, a play park and a hardcourt basketball and five-a-side football area. The Social Centre playing fields are home the Bromham FC football pitch along with a smaller pitch with is used by the youth team, there is also a pavilion which is used as a changing facility for both Home and Away teams as well as the officials. Just beside the car park of the Social Centre is another children’s play park which is looked over by the Millennium Cross, a tall stone cross erected in conjunction with the year 2000 and its symbolic nature with Christianity." "Bromham has two main places of Christian worship; the main and most prominent is St. Nicholas’s Church situated right in the heart of the village. The other place of worship is the smaller Chapel which is positioned nearly at the top of the aptly named Church Hill." [1]

Bromham Football Club was formed in 1897, with Harry Amor and Arthur Powney as co-founders. The team first played in front of the house at Nonsuch Park in a kit consisting of blue shirts and white collars. The team was forced to re-locate pitches five times for agricultural reasons, but eventually returned to Nonsuch. At first the team had no changing rooms and used an old pigsty, until they purchased an old army hut and installed a sunken bath around 1953/54. During 1923 the club forged ahead by forming a ladies football team with Beatrice Paget in goal. They were virtually unbeatable! The club did not play during the 1939-45 war years, but a youth side was formed in 1941 and Peter Amor, a grandson of the co-founder played in this side. In 1947 a football and supporters club was formed, made up mainly of women under the chairmanship of Ivor Gardiner. Don Amor, brother of Peter played in the newly formed club and continued until 1966, when he took up refereeing. Another well known villager Don Paget became Chairman for many years, later becoming President of the 'Skurrays' Wiltshire League until his death. The only cup the team recollect winning in those early post-war days was the Meredith Brown cup for six-a-side teams, presented by the owner of Nonsuch Park. Ken Glass, team captain, was the best football player after the war and also the clubs longest serving player. He went on to be Chairman and then President until his death. Another notable player of that era was Arthur (Rollo) May, described as a brilliant but temperamental goalkeeper. The 1960s team consisted of the Paget brothers, Peter, Gordon, Clive and Jim, all sons of Don. In the 1962/63 season Peter Paget scored 105 goals, many of them laid on by Ken Glass. In this season, they were undefeated, and won the league outright. The following season the team became semi-professional. Our ex-Chairman Malcolm Baldwin also played in this side. The 1980s brought also considerable success winning the 'Parr' Trophy (league trophy) 1987/88, and the Chippenham Sunday League knockout cup two seasons in succession, 1988/89 and 1989/90. Bromham has had its ups and downs in 2000/01. The club almost folded due to the lack of support and financial problems, but pulled through under the then chairmanship of Malcolm Baldwin (son in law of Ken Glass) and three stalwart committee members. At this difficult time, Bromham FC lost their senior football status. Bromham 1st team and manager Richard Witts, enjoyed cup success during the 2001/2002 season winning the Fountain Trophies Junior Cup, the first silverware to be brought home for 15 years! The club regained senior football status for the 2004/2005 season under current manager John Boatman. The 1st team now play in the Wiltshire Premier division and the Reserve team in Wiltshire Junior division 2. Bromham FC are now on a sound financial footing and are looking forward to the future with the 2 Saturday men's teams, an expanding youth setup and the Bromham Sunday men's team have started again for the 2006/07 season. This is all only possible thanks to the facilities made available to us by Bromham Parish Council and an enthusiastic management and club committee. The club maintains its family atmosphere and still has two Pagets on its books and Kevin Amor, our current club secretary. Every year the club recognises the biggest contribution from a member with the 'Neil Amor' cup, dedicated to the memory of the co-founders great-grandson.
