[edit] Britney Spears' albums (sales)
Someone is making up random numbers. The person says that Britney's album sold 14.7 mill, but Soundscan said it sold 10.5 mill and went 14x platinum. We need to block him cos he's jacked up Britney sales. I wouldn't be surprises if it stated that her debut sold 50 mill a few weeks from now. You are rational thinker too!
I'm the same person who wrote the one above about her real album sales, but thanks! So are you! Phoenix V
All regularly released albums and their chart peak position: United States (US), United Kingdom (UK), Canada (CAN), Australia (AUS), Germany (GER), France (FRA) and Japan (JPN).

The album ...Baby One More Time is to date the best-selling album by a teenager, with 14 million in the United States and over 25 million worldwide, plus 3 million with the five released singles. Her follow-up album, Oops!... I Did It Again, released on May 16, 2000, also debuted at number one, and was a similarly huge hit. It sold over 1.3 million units its first week in the U.S., making it the fastest-selling album by a female artist. The album sold 10 million units in the U.S. and 20 million worldwide. Over 4 million copies of Britney were sold in the United States alone, and the album went on to sell over 12 million copies worldwide. While the album was very much a hit by anyone else's standards, these figures are low in comparison to the sales of her other albums. In the Zone, however, has sold close to 3 million copies in the United States alone and over 5.6 million copies worldwide, totaling 8 million with singles. Spears released her first greatest hits collection, Greatest Hits: My Prerogative, on November 9, 2004. The album debuted at #4 in the US charts, selling 255,000 copies in its first week. Spears also notched up the biggest selling first week for a greatest hits compilation by a female artist in UK chart history (115,341 copies), smashing the first week sales of previous high profile collections from Whitney Houston, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and Shania Twain. The collection includes "...Baby One More Time", "Oops...I Did It Again" and "Toxic", as well as two new songs and a cover of Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative". As of January 2006, the set has sold over 6.5 million copies worldwide. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Good-time (talk • contribs).

[edit] Britney's Brazilian and Japanese Sales for In The Zone
Brazil:
'In The Zone' Certified Diamond In Brazil Britney Spears' 'In The Zone' is back to Brazilian's Top 40 CD Sales again this week (#37), and now 'Hot100Brasil.com' (Brazilian Official Chart) posted that 'In The Zone' has been DIAMOND Certified, confirming 'Not’cias Musicais' Unofficial Chart, which means sales of above 500,000.

Britney Spears is the first International Artist to receive the Diamond Certified since 1983 when Madonna recieved, so she was the most sucessfull artist this year here in Brazil, and probably since 1983.
This is BIG everybody! :D
[edit] Britney's album sales
[edit] Holla Back? Why do silly fans lie about sales, britney albums have sold a lot but as much as below, where is the internet for these sales please
- The reason I just changed the album sales is that at the certification part (when you count things up everything's right), when you compare it to what's noted at "the album stats", it's different.
- Britney's achievements says that IFPI and TIME Magazine confirmed that Britney's album sales topped 85 million. Now when you count them up (25+22+13+10+8+0.7) it's a total of 78 million... I just viewed this at EssentialBritneySpears.com (French):

Now I understand it's just a fanpage so they can make things up, but when you count everything up, it turns up to be right as IFPI self confirmed the 85 million album sales. So I'm adding these results to wikipedia. The title on the site self says "Ventes Officielles De Britney Spears" which means "Britney's Official Sales" Anybody objects? -- Luigi-ish 19:09, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

- Sorry, but unless these sales have been confirmed by Jive Records, they do not count. Those sales could have been made up by anyone as it is a fan site and not an official Britney Spears site. -- User:151.203.153.24

[edit] "B in the Mix: The Remixes
according to Entertainment Weekly and MTV it debuted at no.134 not 166.
(Entertainment Weekly) Out of the Zone Britney's latest CD lacks star presence
Hear about Britney Spears' new baby? Definitely. Hear about her new album? Um... Released Nov. 22 without the usual PR blitz, B in the Mix: The Remixes sold only 14,000 copies in its first week, debuting at No. 134 on Billboard's album chart. A rep for Spears' label, Jive, insists the former Queen Bee of Teenage Pop hasn't lost her touch. The disc of clubby remixes "was scheduled as a limited-edition fan piece," she says, adding that Brit's working on a full-length album for 2006.
In general, remix albums rarely find a mass audience (R. Kelly's recent remix record, Remix City Volume 1, debuted only at No. 72). But B in the Mix lacks a photo of Britney anywhere on the cover or CD booklet- a conspicuously low-profile rollout for an artist whose 1999 debut album has sold more than 10 million copies. "It doesn't seem like the best way to sell a Britney CD," says Carl Mello, senior buyer at New England's Newbury Comics music chain. "Though it's a good way to milk the catalog for a few extra dollars over the holidays." And someone does have another mouth to feed.

Some sales numbers and image references were changed by anon editors in ways which were not supported by any citation that I could see, and which introduced broken image links.
Please follow up here with citations if the numbers were well sourced.
[edit] Discography
This article has become a ridiculous fanpage with no references. The version I've created keeps things simple, compiled and accurate -- but most improtantly, the data is all backed up with sources. Unless someone can find an OFFICIAL website (not fanpage) to cite their data for the worldwide sales figures of Britney's albums and/or singles, then they will be kept out of the article. Also, the reason for my removal of the singles chartbox is because it was unecessary; there are links to the specific singles' article on the page, where one can find all of the chart information they desire for that specific song by simply clicking on the link. Triggy 22:01, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

- I totally disagree, discography contains album chart w/ album pic, singles chart, and etc not just 1 table which is the unnecessary one. U found it unnessary bcoz u just want to delete it, Singles chart box are necessary, it summarizes all the singles so u visitors don't have to go in every page just to know the chart positions. And almost all discographies have singles chart box, so there's no reason to delete it whenever u just want.--Hotwiki 13:02, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- And oh, how good for triggy to deleted the past discussions, that's actualy another bad edit and vandalism.--Hotwiki 13:10, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Dear Triggy! The actual discography is good and detailed. And there's no need to remove informations because these are relevant for a discography. If you find out that some details are wrong (sales, chart positions), you can check out the sources and help us to improve this article. But don't damage the article or delete discussions. --Red-Blue-White 13:56, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
You people are obviously blind followers of Britney. As I stated, without a source, you can not just write worldwide sales and make them whatever you please. Also, a load of information is inaccurate (ie: In the Zone is NOT certified 3x Platinum in the U.S. Get over it). Not only that, but my version is clean and compiled; yours is a complete mess. Bolding things like "#1" is POV, and the remixography and unreleased songs sections are not only partially false, they are also unnecessary. Triggy 20:13, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
- If you think that bolding numbers is a POV you can correct it. I don't know if a remixography or a unreleased songs section is necessary - but why not, if the songs are confirmed. A discography lists EVERY release (that's the meaning of the word "discography"). I removed lots of rumors but can't correct all numbers because I am not a Britney expert.
- "In the Zone" is certified 2xPlatinum. You can find the certifications at the RIAA site [1]] and can correct them. But it is no reason to delete a complete article if there are unsure numbers. It's a better way to correct these numbers. --Red-Blue-White 23:39, 5 January 2006 (UTC)
This page has become an absolute mess. Sales figures should go on a completly seperate page. Somebody has completely screwed up the list of B-side songs and their sources by inexplicably listing album tracks, and I am currently compiling a list of various Britney songs that are not only TRULY unreleased, but have somehow leaked to bootleg. Some of us ARE interested in compiling a SERIOUS Britney discography, but I don't think it's happened yet.
[edit] Certifications "In the Zone"
"In The Zone" should be 3x platinum according to billboad.com someone asked about it and that was the answer because it has sold more in the U.S now the certification has not been changed because Jive has not yet paid for that shipment of albums.
- Look at riaa.com [2]: You can search for "In the Zone" - and find double platinum. The Wikipedia can't report "that someone said it would be 3x Platinum". We need sources - RIAA, Billboard or the record company, then we can change it. But rumors are not enough. --Red-Blue-White 10:44, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Rumored albums
Wikipedia:Verifiability: Wikipedia should only publish material that is verifiable and is not original research. One of the keys to writing good encyclopedia articles is to understand that they should refer only to facts, assertions, theories, ideas, claims, opinions, and arguments that have already been published by a reputable publisher. The goal of Wikipedia is to become a complete and reliable encyclopedia, so editors should cite credible sources so that their edits can be verified by readers and other editors. --Red-Blue-White 19:19, 6 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] INFLATED ALBUM SALES
Please, can someone fix this. The whole page is a mess of inflated album sales. I like Britney a lot but she ahsn't sold THAT much! Her discography along with Madonna's and Lil' Kim's are known to be full of inflated sales.

Should that be added to her singles? There is a music video for that song. Directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. The page says that the video was shot January 2001 [3] --L.a.m.b 14:49, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Unreleased/ unconfirmed songs moved

[edit] Where's source's to the promo singles and special releases
Somebody should to do a separate site to Britney with "promo singles and special releases" and p[ut in there the cpovers and tracklistings.
-
- Oh no, the discography is not very big no need to separate--Hotwiki 15:29, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
I would dispute that--I have a promo copy of "(You Drive Me) Crazy" that appears to be authentic Jive product that I bought from an Ebay seller in the far east--it features "Autumn Goodbye" as well as all of the artwork from the standard YDMC single, but I never see it listed in any of the so-called "discographies", even the ones that seem to be fairly comprehensive.
[edit] Please can we get a reliable Source
Ive have been reading and people keep changing the sales for the albums. Until there is solid proof, leave the numbers alone.
[edit] DVD SALES!!!
Brit's dvd sales are high. Can we add it to her albums sales cause i think dvd sales are important. I mean i know if wikipedia wouldn't want to add it her album sales because of the possibility it might confuse everyone.
-
- It's O.K. to add DVD sales but you've got to add reliable sources with them. Kraft. 03:06, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Edit war
Could editors please discuss the issue of sales figures rather than revert without explanation? Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 21:20, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
There is this person who continues to inflate Britney Spears sales especilly the Nielsen Soundscan sales which have been confirmed.
[edit] This page need to be LOCKED
This page needs to have the sales fixed and then locked. It's so annoying when people come in here and inflate her sales to almost 90 million in album sales. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.171.42.13 (talk) 06:31, 29 December 2006 (UTC).
- I agree this page should be locked again, too much vandalism. Kraft. 23:31, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] THERE IS NOT ONE SOURCE
All the numbers claim that they are coming from Billboard but the link provided is to Billboard.com. That is NOT a source. Where does it say it? The whole page is like this. Either add credible sources of citations needed is going up.

- Taken care of. Corrected. Herewego123 03:30, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
