[edit] Merger of Gashead into this article
I think that Gashead should be a section of the main Bristol Rovers article. If you have a look at the suggested layout of football club articles at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Clubs, it suggests having a supporters section in the main article, and it appears that Gasheads has already been deleted once for not being notable (see User_talk:Rossytzoltan). Anyone else got any thoughts? Gasheadsteve 13:01, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Done, since there were no objections. Gasheadsteve 21:49, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] YouTube links
This article is one of thousands on Wikipedia that have a link to YouTube in it. Based on the External links policy, most of these should probably be removed. I'm putting this message on the talk page, to request the regular editors take a look at the link and make sure it doesn't violate policy. In short: 1. 99% of the time YouTube should not be used as a source. 2. We must not link to material violating someone's copyright. If you are not sure whether the link on this article should be removed or if you would like to help spread this message, contact us on User talk:J.smith/YouTube Linklist. Thanks, ---J.S (t|c) 00:56, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Noted players
I think that the noted players section of the article needs a pretty big overhaul. It's for listing the players who have had the biggest impact on the club, so players like Youra Eshaya who never made a first team appearance, and Bobby Zamora who only made four appearances and never scored should be removed. I think that we should try and agree on a list of players on this talk page to be included in the article. We also need to be careful to avoid recentism. The players I would definately remove from the existing list would be:
- Youra Eshaya
- Bobby Zamora
Players that I would definately keep on the current list and why:
- Geoff Bradford - Record goalscorer & capped by England while at Rovers
- Nigel Martyn - First million pound goalkeeper when sold by Rovers
Possible keeps:
- Esmond Million - Bribery scandal & banned from football for life
- Larry Lloyd - I don't know enough about him to comment either way
- Nathan Ellington - Discovered in non-league and sold for over £1million
- Jason Roberts - Probably remove, as there have been players that have made a bigger impact
- Gary Mabbutt - Joint top scorer one season, but most of his achievements were at Tottenham
Players I think that should be added:
- Stuart Taylor - Most appearances for Rovers by any player
- Andy Tillson - Record signing and club captain for several years
- Barry Hayles - Record transfer fee received
- More from the 1950s and 1970s promotion-winning sides
Any other thoughts from anyone? Gasheadsteve 11:17, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
- How about adding Ian Holloway. He was part of the 1990 promotion winning side and, let's face it, he's a Rovers legend. Gasheaduk 19:33, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
