The British Actors' Equity Association (now called Equity) is the actors' trade union in the United Kingdom. It was formed in 1930 by a group of West End performers. The members of the union have the greatest range of fees of any union in the UK.

It is one of the hardest unions to join and was the last of the closed shop types. Nevertheless, it is no longer a requirement for every paid British professional actor to be a member of this union. [1] [2]

British Equity is the British counterpart of several American unions, including Actors' Equity Association, the Screen Actors Guild, and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
