Britethorn is a Comedic Rebellion
Britethorn is a series of videos that have become extremely popular on YouTube. The first nine videos are political parodies of the famous PC/Mac ads. They star Aaron Sjoholm as the Democrat and Shawn Girvan as the Republican. John Tolley appears in "Halloween" as a Southern Republican. Sherman Edwards appears as African American Voter in the film, "Country."
The crew of Britethorn are all employees of The Second City Theater in Chicago -- all working behind the scenes.
On the evening of the 2006 midterm elections, the crew of Britethorn produced five additional videos as part of their Election Night Coverage. These were directed by Jeff Hadick and written by Britethorn Creator/Writer/Producer John T. Kramer-- with improvisation by actors Shawn Girvan (Republican Clark Bachman) and Adam Yencho (Skippy.)
Britethorn has recently been featured on sites such as The New York Times and the Blog site Daily Kos. They intend to continue the series throughout the upcoming 2008 Presidential Election cycle. The most recent vidoes (7-9) have been directed by Johnny Bruder.
Britethorn's most recent video, Britethorn Responds!, was featured on the front page of YouTube on January 7, 2007. The video is a response to a user comment for one of Britethorn's older videos, Country.
