Brier Creek
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Brier Creek is a community development project in the Western edge of Raleigh, North Carolina. Together with Brier Creek Country Club, Brier Creek Commons shopping center, nearby condominium/apartment complexes such as Ashley Park at Brier Creek, and a planned elementary school, Brier Creek rapidly became a self-sustained neighborhood in the early 2000's. The site for the community was chosen for its access to the 'triangle' formed by Raleigh, Cary, and Durham, Research Triangle Park, and Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Duke University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University are about 15 miles away by car.
[edit] Brier Creek Country Club
Brier Creek Country Club is a luxury residential neighborhood developed by Toll Brothers. The club features an 7,000 18-hole Arnold Palmer signature golf course incorporated into a large neighborhood of luxury homes. In 2005, the club was named as one of the top 40 of North Carolina private golf courses by North Carolina Magazine.
Single Family homes range from 2,000 to 6,000 square feet, and range in price from $380,000 to several million dollars. Homes are divided into separate named neighborhoods, including 'Doral' and 'Pine Valley'.
[edit] Brier Creek Commons
The commercial segment of the Brier Creek project began in tandem with the Country Club project as part of a development plan approved by the Raleigh city government. It includes two large shopping centers, which together boast approximately 1 million square feet of retail space in a 1-mile radius. Stores include large retail stores including Target, Barnes & Noble, chain and individual restaurants, and specialized stores for cellular phones, video games, and more. The shopping centers attract shoppers from all around the triangle cities, since it is roughly equidistant from each of these locations. Brier Creek Commons Shopping Center is owned, leased and managed by American Asset Corporation.
