Brickfields Meadow
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Brickfields Meadow is a meadow in South Norwood, London. It is located on Tennison Road and Dickensons Lane which is in Woodside. The meadow covers an area of about 4.37 hectares. The meadow includes a:
- Large pond - where fishing is allowed
- Dipping platform
- Buddleia valley
- Grassland and woodland planting
- Small Woodland area
- and a Children's Play Area - includes a mini maze, a roundabout and more
Unlike Heavers Meadow which is also located on Tennison Road, one difference is that it is much bigger. Another is that it contains a lot more greenery and even a small woodland forest. The meadow is not very well known to residents on Tennison Road, as the entrance is very secluded, even a power supply of EDF Energy is there. But when you do get in, it is massive and you can see the lake as if it goes on for miles.
[edit] Brief history
Brickfields Meadow was the site of the former Woodside brickworks which came to the Council as a planning gain in two phases over two years in the early 1990s[1].
