Briarwood is a new neighborhood which is settling in quite nicely, the majority of the land allotted has been developed, however construction is still underway. It will soon be joined by new neighborhoods south of Lakewood namely Rosewood and Brookside which will soon be seen on the horizon. Other new areas are Willows, Stoneridge, Hampton Village, and East Willow Grove. After World WarII until the end of the twentieth century, growth in Saskatoon was 130,000+ folks. At the start of the twenty first century,Saskatoon's population was around 200,000. There is presently a boom in construction, both in the Lakewood Suburban Development Area as well as around the perimeter of Saskatoon. An estimated 310,000 people will be able to find homes in the new communities of Saskatoon. [3]

The land Mike Boychuck farmed is now being developed into Briarwood. His company that he founded Boychuk Construction is playing a leading role in developing this subdivision.[4]

8th Street East is the northern boundary, and Taylor Street is the southern boundary. Beechdale Crescent, Court, Terrace, Way, and Place along with Beechmont Crescent, View, Court, Lane, Place, and Terrace comprise the eastern edge. Boychuck Drive is the western perimeter.
Every road within Briarwood begins with the letter "B"

Briarwood has been growing steadily in the past decade. It was first developed beginning in the 1990's.

In the neighboring communities of Lakewood Suburban Development Area, there are several malls along 8th Street and Preston Avenue. As well Lakewood Suburban Centre is in the plannning stages to the south of Briarwood community.[5]

Briarwood is serviced by City Transit Bus Route No. 5 Saskatoon Transit.

Briarwood Community Association provides leisure activities for various age groups such as soccer, and hockey. It has been organising for construction of a community center. There are no lots zoned for school or church in the area, which has also been under discussion. [7] [8]
