Brian Henderson (born September 1931) is a New Zealand-born Australian television personality who hosted the Australian version of Bandstand from 1958 until 1972. Henderson also holds the record for the longest serving television news presenter, having read either the weekend or the weeknight news on Sydney station TCN-9 from January 1957 until his resignation on Friday, November 29, 2002. He took part in the reunion with Channel Nine for the 50th birthday of Australian television in September 2006.
The tagline he used to sign off at the end of every newscast was ....and that's the way it is., a sign-off borrowed from American newsreader Walter Cronkite.
The Simpsons Army Barracks have a Henderson Bandstand often mistakenly thought to be named after Brian Henderson and his show. The bandstand was actually named after Alex Henderson, a Tenor Horn player in the Army Band who rose to become the Director of Music in the Australian Army.
