Brian Stephen Giles (born January 21, 1971, in El Cajon, California) is a Major League Baseball right fielder who plays for the San Diego Padres (2003–present). Giles (pronounced JYLES) attended Granite Hills High School and did not attend college, but played with the Cleveland Indians (19951998) and Pittsburgh Pirates (1999–2003). He bats and throws left-handed and has a career line of .295/.408/.525 with 260 home runs, 334 doubles and 1,006 walks in 1,518 games. His brother Marcus Giles is a second baseman who most recently played for the Atlanta Braves; however, during the 2006-2007 offseason, Marcus was non-tendered by the Braves and subsequently released. Following his release, Marcus immedietly began negotiating with the Padres and the two sides came to an agreement, which means that the Giles brothers will be reunited as Padres.
