Brian Bauman

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Brian Bauman, was a bone marrow transplant patient. In 1996, his situation was highly publicized worldwide because of the rarity of finding a marrow match that would work, in which there would exist six identical blood anogens.

Bauman was a featured guest on numerous television stations' morning shows, and his story made many newspapers and other publications, including People Magazine. The publicity caused an outpouring of support for Bauman and eventually he found his match with the help of a Korean military blood match program, by someone unrelated. He underwent a bone marrow transplant and has been recovering from a certain kind of Leukemia that he had developed in 1995.

The procedure took place in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in September, 1996, where Bauman was an Air Force cadet. He was born in 1974 and adopted from Korea in 1977 by Steve and Elaine Bauman of Pine City, Minnesota. He graduated from college in the Spring of 1998 and then returned to Minnesota.
