Brian A. Joyce

Brian A. Joyce is a Democratic politician from Massachusetts. He is currently serving his fifth term in the Massachusetts State Senate. He represents the Norfolk, Bristol and Plymouth district, which includes Avon, Braintree, Canton, East Bridgewater, Easton, Milton, Randolph, Sharon, Stoughton, and West Bridgewater. Joyce is a practicing attorney who has taught at both the graduate and undergraduate level.

Joyce is also involved in a number of charitable and civic associations. He serves as the Vice President of the Milton Town Club and on the HESSCO Elder Services Advisory Council, and is a member of the Stoughton, Easton and Randolph Chambers of Commerce, the Neponset River Watershed Association, and the League of Women Voters. He is a corporator of Milton Hospital, on the Board of Directors of Fuller Village (non-profit senior housing), and coaches youth hockey and baseball.
[edit] Supporter of Gay Marriage
Senator Joyce voted "NO" on the proposed constitutional amendment to define marriage as the union between one man and one woman at the Constitutional Convention held on January 2, 2007. The final tally was 62-134, surpassing the required 50 votes for passage. If the constitutional amendment receives another 50 "YES" votes in next years Constitutional Convention, the citizens of Massachusetts will have a chance to vote on the amendment.
