[edit] Occupation of Relevance to You
I declared war on spam in 1998-03-06 02:00.
Links relevant to that public service include basic internet databases and a mail-abuse prevention system. This is a (seemingly) automated blocklist of utility prior to the former, and perhaps first, real-time blackhole list.
[edit] Skills of Personal Utility
I write code for computers (C, Pascal, FORTRAN, BASIC -- mostly BASIC for my audio). I very rarely transmit executables (*.exe *.bat *.scr). I don't trust executables in e-mail, even from my friends, and I don't think you should, unless that particular friend wrote the executable, and you hav good reason to think that she knows exactly what she is sending and could rectify any problems that an executable might cause if a virus tagged along without her knowlej. I am much more likely to transmit source code.
[edit] Pet Peeve
"How may I direct your call?". One of my pet peeves is secretaries that answer the phone and immediately put you on hold at maybe twenty cents a minute. They should direct your call, because that's jenerally all that they do, anyway, and it doesn't take much longer. Maybe it's because he can't stand more than one phone ringing at a time. That's easily fixed if he only has one handset. "How may I direct your call?".
[edit] Distinctive Contributions
Thanks to some prompting in the way of software already on my computer and available with my sound card, my personal audio is very good. Here is one of my contributions. It helps, in producing such, to know about hardware and software limitations. To remove noise from that recording, I selected and profiled part of it that was nearly silent. I then applied that profile to the whole recording. To profile the whole recording would be telling my computer to treat my voice as noise.
