Hi, my name is Brett Matthews. Welcome to my page!
My interests are organized around the problem of rural poverty in the developing world, and include:
- the evolutionary dynamics of private sector organizations,
- organizational networking,
- adaptation of accounting and control systems to oral communities,
- the evolving frontier of rural microfinance,
- co-operatives and rural poverty,
- the economics and sociology of rural villages, and
- action research.
With the exception of densely populated countries like Bangladesh, microfinance has not been very effective at reaching rural communities. The tools of microfinance will require major improvements to reach the world's 850 million rural poor who earn less than US $1 a day.
I live in Toronto, Canada.
I'm interested in collaborating with anyone who shares my goal of improving the quality of financial services for rural poor people.
