Breyer State University

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Breyer State University-Alabama claims to be an online entity with offices in Birmingham, Alabama. According to the school's webpage it is "licensed"1 by the 'Department of Post-secondary Education' of the State of Alabama, which is not listed on the State of Alabama government website. Alabama state universities are administered by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education, which makes no mention of Breyer State University, which is not accredited by any accreditation institution recognised by the United States Department of Education.[1] Despite its name, it is not a member of either the Alabama state university system or Idaho state university system, which the following paragraph indicates is where the 'university' was first incorporation.

Breyer State University incorporated in Kamiah, Idaho in 2001, but later incorporated as Breyer State University-Alabama in Alabama in 2004. It does not award degrees to residents of Idaho.

It is strongly suggested that anyone applying to admission to Breyer to first verify clearly with the Alabama Commission on Higher Education [2] that the school is certified to issue degrees in Alabama.

[edit] Connections

Breyer State claims accreditation from Central States Consortium of Colleges & Schools (CSCCS)[3] (which is not to be confused with the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, a recognized regional accreditor). The parent organization of CSCCS is AIHCP[4], which lists Breyer president Dominick L. Flarey as Executive Director[5]. Thus, BSU's claimed accreditor is controlled by the BSU president.
