- The 1944 United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference, more commonly known as the "Bretton Woods Conference", that took place at the Mount Washington Hotel resort in Bretton Woods, NH, resulting in the Bretton Woods Agreement that established the international Bretton Woods system and hence the World Bank, IMF, and international gold standard
