Brent Hinds

Brent Hinds is the lead guitarist/singer for the Atlanta, Georgia tech/sludge-metal outfit Mastodon. He uses models of Gibson's Flying V, SG, and Les Paul. He also uses his own signature model by First Act. He plays most of the heavy chunky rhythms in Mastodon's songs while Bill Kelliher plays most of the harmonies.

Brent Grew up in Alabama, and originaly played the Banjo. He learned his "signature style" of fast hybrid picking by emulating banjo fingerings on guitar. He grew up listening to country, but when he entered his late teens he started listening to Neurosis and the Melvins, bands that would have profound influence on his musicianship.
