Brent Hayden

Brent Hayden (born October 21, 1983 in Maple Ridge, British Columbia) is a Canadian swimmer. He was raised in Mission, BC. He started swimming when he was five. In his youth he earned a blackbelt in Isshin Ryu karate. He attended the University of British Columbia. He is currently the Canadian Record holder in the 200m, 100m and 50m Freestyle. He won two silver medals on the 4x200m and 4x100m freestyle relays at the 2005 World Aquatic Championships in Montreal, Quebec. Additionally, he placed 4th in the 200m free and 6th in the 100m free setting new Canadian records in both events.

At the 2007 World Aquatics Championships, he tied for gold with Filippo Magnini in the Mens 100m Freestyle with a Canadian record time of 48.43. He became the first Canadian in 21 years to win a Gold medal at the worlds. [1]
