Brent Burns (born on March 9, 1985 in Ajax, Ontario, Canada) is an ice hockey defenceman currently with Minnesota Wild of the NHL. Burns was expected to be drafted early in the second round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, however, he was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the first round (20th overall).
Burns spent most of his OHL career as a Right Wing. NHL Scouts predicted Burns to have a successful career as a power forward. However, Burns has since played defense for the Minnesota Wild but a permanent switch to the wing is a high possibility.[citation needed]
