Brenninkmeijer family

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Brenninkmeijer family founded C&A, an international chain of clothing stores, and is said to be the richest family in the Netherlands. The first two family members coming to the Netherlands, the brothers Clemens and August Brenninkmeijer, founded the textile company C&A, which is now a chain of clothes stores. Clemens and August were originally from Mettingen (Westphalia) in Germany, and moved to Friesland whilst searching for a good location to start up a family textile store. They were successful, and ended up fully relocating their families to the Netherlands.

Today C&A and related companies are located throughout the world. Many of the companies they own are controlled through the COFRA group.
