Brendan O'Carroll

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Brendan O'Carroll son of Maureen O'Carroll (former TD, Ireland) is a comedian from Finglas, Dublin, Ireland.

He is short and balding, often wears a suit, and for a long time had a pony tail, until it was removed by Leeds Utd and Ireland footballer Gary Kelly.

O'Carroll has written six novels, five of which are published in 23 languages and have become best sellers. He has also written four movies and seven stage plays.[citation needed]

Much of his comedy is about his childhood in Finglas and Dublin City. He is currently touring with his trilogy of stage plays, Mrs Brown's Last Wedding, Mourning Mrs Brown, and Mrs Brown Rides again, which follow the story of a typical Dublin "mammy" and her grown-up children. A fourth play in the series is expected in 2007.

Anjelica Houston starred as Mrs. Brown in the movie version, 'Agnes Brown', based on O'Carroll's play 'The Mammy'. It was filmed entirely on location in Dublin, Ireland, co-starring O'Carroll himself.
