[edit] History
Brenda J. Wyatt, born in 1958, was an highly trained, intelligent, strong, and dedicated member of the New York City Police Department forensics department. She was also a published author, a metallurgist, and an archeologist specializing in the history of ancient weaponry.
In 1985, as part of New York’s forensic unit, Brenda found a sword at a decapitation murder scene. Brenda determined that there was a piece of the sword missing and returned to the garage with a metal detector to find it. Brenda found a sliver of a steel blade and concluded that it was from a Japanese katana forged in 600 BC using a method not used until the Middle Ages. Unknown to Brenda, she was being watched by Immortal Connor MacLeod, who was living in New York under the alias of Russell Nash and had been responsible for beheading the victim. At a bar, Brenda was picked up by MacLeod - who was teasing her knowing who she was. Aware that MacLeod was the prime suspect of the murder, Brenda followed him and witnessed a battle between MacLeod and The Kurgan. The confrontation would be interrupted by the police and both fighters would disappear.
Intrigued with MacLeod, Brenda interfered with a criminal investigation by interrogating Connor at his antique store and then having him over for dinner at her apartment. Brenda tried to tape her conversation with Connor at her apartment, and left a loaded pistol in the room, both of which Connor easily found. Connor confronted her about her being part of forensics and she replied she just wanted to know about the katana.
After finding out that the real Russell Nash had died in his birth and that Nash's antique store had been owned by the same person since 1796, Brenda went to Connor's store. Brenda accused Connor of being over 300 years old, and became astonished when he proved her right by sticking a knife into his own chest and not dying.
Brenda and Connor fell in love and spent a night of passion together. When Brenda came home, she found The Kurgan waiting for her. He kidnapped her to lure Connor for their final fight. Connor killed The Kurgan and moved with Brenda to Scotland where they got married.
[edit] Sequels
The sequels pose different fates for Brenda Wyatt after the events of the original film.
In Highlander II: The Quickening, Brenda dies in 1995 due to effects caused by the disappearance of the ozone layer. Connor later visits her grave in 2024.
However, in Highlander: The Final Dimension, whose events occur in 1994, we are told that Brenda died in a car accident in 1987.
In the rough cut of Highlander: Endgame (which takes place in the continuity of Highlander: The Series), yet a third death for Brenda Wyatt is established: she is a victim of a hit-and-run in New York City, orchestrated by Jacob Kell.
However, some fans totally reject any events in the sequels and as a result of this Brenda would still be alive.
