Breaking Point (short film)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Breaking Point (also known as The Layoff) is an Australian 2006 drama/thriller film directed by Tribe The Entertainer and David "The Man" Baker. The story follows an attractive Peruvian, aptly named Bruce McNeil (Yancey), who upon waking up on a seemingly normal morning is overcome by violent flashbacks pertaining to him destroying his house, and the office where he works. In his stress he manages to call his friend and casual lover, Liz (Brown) who rushes to his rescue and helps him slowly come to terms with what has happened taking Bruce through the events of the previous day.

Over the course of the film it becomes clear that Bruce's friends are not all they seem to be. The Big M (Zetlin), the gruff, no-nonsense CEO of the company at which Bruce works and The mysterious Buddy (Tribe), Bruce's best and most roguishly handsome friend, who emanates cunning and evil that McNeil seems not to be aware of. Why has Bruce awoken to carnage at his home? Why did his long-standing girlfriend end their relationship? Why is Buddy so eager to help? Will there be a sequel? Who would finance a film like this? Will Eddie Murphy do more classic 80's standup?
