Brasiléia

Brasiléia is a city in the Brazilian state of Acre, ca. 200 km southwest of Rio Branco on the Rio Acre on the border to Bolivia, across from the Bolivian city Cobija. Brasiléia lies in the Amazon Basin at an approximate elevation of 280 m above sea level and has a tropical, hot and humid climate. Brasiléia has 16 940 inhabitants (2004), and the main industry is production of India rubber.

Brasiléia was established in 1910, the name is a created from the words Brasil (Brazil) and hiléia (forest).
