Bradley (Bilston)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bradley is a residential area of Bilston in the West Midlands of England. It is situated in the eastern part of the town towards the border with Darlaston.
Most of Bradley was developed between 1920 and 1970 as the local council (absorbed by Wolverhampton in 1966) developed extensive housing across an area previously occupied by farmland and coalfields.
Bradley is served by a Midland Metro link on Bradley Lane, which straddles the Bilston-Darlaston border. This gives Bradley, a previously isolated area as far as public transport was concerned, a direct light rail link with Wolverhampton, Wednesbury, West Bromwich and Birmingham. It was opened on 31 May 1999. The trackbed of the Metro was initially a railway line which closed to passengers in 1972, but the section of line between Wednesbury and Bilston had been in use as recently as 1992 as a link with a nearby scrapyard.
