Brønderslev municipality
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
As of January 1, 2007 Brønderslev municipality will, as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), come into existence as a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Denmark. It will consist of the former municipalities of Brønderslev and Dronninglund. This will create a municipality with an area of 630 km² and a total population of 35,445 (2007). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Nordjylland ("North Jutland Region").
The municipality was originally named Brønderslev-Dronninglund, this being the longest municipality name in Denmark. But at the municipal council's first meeting they decided to shorten the name to a new and shorter form: Brønderslev municipality.
