Talk:Bounce (network)

Splitted irc/ftp & added jbouncer (19 june 2006)
[edit] Some points
Several pointson this page:
- There is no external link to psybnc (probably the most popular bouncer),
- the bit about vhosts is wrong. vhost doesnt stand for vanity host but for virtual host.
- Another reason for using bncs is to keep your name (particularly on servers where nick registration isnt available).
- "The use of a vhost does not conceal the connection any better, but merely adds an amusing statement as the hostname.", often if you get a bnc from a shell provider then it will completely mask your own actual ip using the shells instead.
- "Often times state changes are tracked so that they may be relayed to the client upon reconnection", to me this makes no sense at all. I think its saying that on connection to the bnc it will play a log of pms. -- RND T C 16:48, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Article naming
The term Bounce in this case is what a Bouncer does, so why is the wiki page called "Bounce (network)" as opposed to "Bouncer (network)"?
Something to ponder.
