Boundary Peak is the highest summit in Nevada and is located in Esmeralda County. It is located entirely within the state of Nevada, although it is only about half a mile (1 km) from the California border. Montgomery Peak (13,441 ft) is located just across the border in California, and Boundary Peak can be considered a sub-peak of Montgomery. Boundary Peak is 82 feet higher than the second highest Nevada peak, Wheeler Peak (13,065 ft). An area surrounding the peak is protected as the Boundary Peak Wilderness Area.
