Function Details: The bot should be able to carry out tagging of talk pages of articles related to the WikiProjects. Other bots have been earlier requested to do such work but it would be more efficient if someone actively involved in the WikiProject does it.

Id like to make a note that this kind of task is already being done by quite a few bots Mine being one and as I have helped many projects do exactly the same (20,000+ pages) I have the tools to do this task I dont think we need yet another bot approved to do this when all is needed is a request to do it. I can have my bot do this on a regular process say weekly all I need is the categories that the projects use and what templates they use. Thanks for the offer, I had already made the request few days back at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_France. This bot is intended to also have additional tasks related to the WikiProject for example stub sorting. This currently I am doing manually using AWB and need automation to speed up the process, looking at the number of articles being added every week! how can you auto stub sort with AWB? and a note about BRfA you need to specify all the task that you want to do you cant have a gerneral bot approval we need to know exactly what you plan to do beside the banner tagging and if at a later point you want to do more you will need to come back and get approval for the new task also. Auto stub sorting can be done with AWB derivatives, one could also do some python scripting though. This would be my next task after I am done with tagging the WikiProject pages. Yes I am aware that I would need a new approval for any other tasks to be done. I am aware that similar bots exist but the only purpose of proposing STTWbot was to do away with the bureaucracy when small repetitive work had to be done for the concerned WikiProjects. Just a question? How can you do auto-stubsorting? I don't think that is quite a process that can run with any guarantee that it will run the task right. This I do in two steps, first manually a germany or france people related category is added to ONLY the bio stubs WITHOUT categories. In the second step AWB is used to assign the right stub based on the categories present in the stub. STTW (talk) 08:39, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

Like Beta, I'd prefer it me made clearer what approval is being requested for, at the present time: are you or are you not requesting approval for stub-tagging/-sorting? Anything else? If you're proposing to do automated project-template-tagging, I'd like you to be explicit as to how the lists of candidate articles are being compiled. Alai 05:21, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Ok, I am a bit confused here, what exactly is this bot going to do? Right now what you are requesting seems a bit open ended. As far as I know, BAG generally does not approve open ended bots. They tend to attempt to limit them in scope. I personally would suggest a request for the first tasking only (it looks like you want to do 2 tasks), and do the "auto stubsorting" thing later, perhaps as an additional request.
