what metal are bottle caps made of?

[edit] bottle caps and closures

This subject is in need of editing. Many glass bottles are capped with aluminum or plastic closures. Most plastic closures can be recycled. A range of sport caps are used on sport drinks.

Then there's the claim that twist-offs are the dominant form. Maybe in the USA, bucko, but out here in the vast majority of the world you can go for twenty years and see nary a one - and those that ARE around are on stuff imported from the USA. 86.11.124.189 15:44, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

How much does a bottlecap weigh? -josteinaj, 19.feb.06, 00:58 UTC

[edit] Some answers to the above questions

I found a source on crown cap material: [1]

Crown caps apparantly are made from tin plate.

I also found a wholesale supplier selling bottle caps: [2]

1 gross (144) of bottlecaps is .75 pounds; 10,000 bottlecaps is 52 pounds.

From this we can derive that a bottlecap is about 2.3-2.4 grams in weight, or .08 oz. --Soundwave106 14:31, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
