Boston Township, Summit County, Ohio

Boston is one of the 16 original townships in Summit County, Ohio. It is on the upper middle portion of Summit County. It contains two incorporated areas, Peninsula and Boston Heights. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 1664, which includes 602 for Peninsula, a village that is still a part of the township . It occupies most of survey Town 4, Range 11 in the Western Reserve. It was given the name Boston by James Stanford .
Schooling for most of the township is provided by Woodridge Local School District; an eastern area is included in the Hudson City School District.

Boston is bordered by Cuyahoga Falls and Bath Township to the south, Richfield Township to the west, Brecksville, Sagamore Hills and Northfield Center townships to the north, Hudson to the east and Stow touching the southeast corner. Peninsula and Boston Heights were created out of its original space . Peninsula is still part of the township but Boston Heights is separate . Cuyahoga Falls annexed an area along State Road and Northfield Center has the Brandywine area due to annexation when Northfield Center was part of Northfield Village . One of the more famous places in local lore is Helltown, a common nickname for Boston village.

[edit] Transportation
Boston Township is served by Interstate 271, which has an exit onto Route 303 at the border with Richfield Township. and by Route 303 which goes east-west through the middle of the township. The Ohio Turnpike (Interstate 80) passes through the township without any exits .
