Talk:Born Slippy

[edit] (original) vs .NUXX
.NUXX being the more popular version of this track, it's confused with the original all the time. Because of this I think we should limit discussion in this article to the original, instrumental track, and direct readers to the Born Slippy .NUXX article for more discussion on the cultural impact of that song. What's a real shame is that you never hear anyone talking about the Telematic mix - which is not only the best of the three, but one of Underworld's finest ever moments.
I've deleted 'The lyric "mega mega white thing" is often taken to refer to cocaine or penis'. I always thought it was a reference to ecstasy. If this line is restored, I suggest adding some evidence for it. Chorleypie 13:11, 29 September 2006 (BST)

Any chance of the article explaining just what the hell .NUXX means? Because I may be thick but I have no idea and it's bugging me, and all the articles I read about the track just refer to it as if we should all know what it means. Cheers, Bewildered Thicko.
- Um, I don't think anyone really knows. It doesn't have any special meaning; it's just the name of the song. Kind of like, what's does "Winjer" mean? Who knows? Tabanger 21:25, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Merge
- Oppose - I'm against merging all the Born Slippy articles. Each piece and single release is unique and discreet from the others. They are peripherally related, but pretty much in name only. Someone unfamiliar with the works may be unaware that the similarities end with the name. Tabanger 21:30, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- Support - I placed the merge tags on these and I should have commented then. As only one other editor has responded, I've placed them back on the articles for the time being. I support a merge, as articles are supposed to be about songs, not singles. I am familiar with all the mixes, but as they are all under the name "Born Slippy" and the WP guidelines call for remixes and cover versions to be within the same article, I think it would be much more informative to have all of them together - perhaps giving each new release a different section and explain the history and transformation of the song that way. I think a merge also makes sense as the NUXX version appeared on the original release of the song anyway before being released on its own. P.S. I've added an "oppose" header to the comment above mine. - eo 18:03, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- I can't argue with 2003 being a remix of NUXX. But Born Slippy and NUXX (and TELEMATIC) are completely different songs. There are no shared motifs, samples, etc. Born Slippy doesn't even have lyrics! If the song names were "Born Slippy" and "Foofy Sounds", we wouldn't even be having this discussion.
