Borrisokane

Borrisokane (Buiríos Uí Chéin in Irish) is a small town in North Tipperary, Ireland. In 2002 it had a population of approximately 832, which is growing. It is centrally situated north of Nenagh, south of Portumna and Birr. Close by is the scenic lake Lough Derg.

Borrisokane is very close to the 8W and 53N line intersection.

As part of the 2003 Special Olympics, Borrisokane hosted Korea.

It is also hometown to John Gleeson, the "sixth" member in the original line up of international pop group Westlife.[citation needed]

Also Borrisokane is renowned for it's outstanding hospitality in north tipperary with visitors always returning because of the open armed welcome from the locals
