Borregos Salvajes

Borregos Salvajes is the name of all college sports teams that represent the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey.
They are best known for the college American Football representations of ITESM campus across Mexico: about half of the teams in the ONEFA College American Football League of Mexico are ITESM teams. The two most successful College American Football Borregos teams are those from Campus Estado de México, and Campus Monterrey. Whenever both teams met, the game is considered a derby.
Since the ITESM first competed in the ONEFA, the many Borregos teams have dominated the league, with most of the championships going to one ITESM team. However, since these events are only recent, most other participants don't consider the Borregos to have a great history.
The Borregos Salvajes mascot is also used in other ONEFA teams, such as Toluca and Mexico City campi, and other team sports for college competition, such as soccer, basketball, atheltics, and others.

The team represents the main campus of the ITESM in the city of Monterrey. It is the most successful team in the ONEFA, with 7 championships. The team holds a local derby in the city of Monterrey with a neighboring university college team, the Auténticos Tigres of the UANL.
In november 18 of 2006 they became Champions of the Onefa for the third time in a row.

With the expansion of the private education system of the ITESM, founded some alternative campus outside its home city of Monterrey, one of those campus were the Campus Estado de México. Then the origins of the team are the late 70´s when the Campus Estado de México was founded and built in Atizapán de Zaragoza in the State of Mexico. The only buildings was the socalled "Torre Central", Aulas I, the Cafeteria, the gym and the athletics and football court.
At the beginning the team developed only minor categories (Juvenil) and didn´t appear in the most important competition (Liga Mayor), during the period from the creation until 1985 the team suffered and had lows and highs.
At the end of the 80´s the team entered the Liga Mayor at the Conferencia Nacional, where got the championship and get the right to access the Conferencia Metropolitana.
