Boreopterus is known from an almost-complete skeleton, including a well-preserved skull, from Liaoning Province in China. Its teeth, especially the anterior teeth, are quite large for an ornithocheirid, forming a mesh of sharp teeth at the front of the mouth.

Boreopterus may have fed on fish.
