[edit] Biography

She was born in London, England, to Gary Wright and Sheila Teague Wright. She has an older brother, Lewis.

Wright enjoys dance, art, traveling, and playing musical instruments like the piano, guitar, saxophone, and recorder, as well as sports such as football, swimming, tennis, riding, ice skating, surfing and cycling. Her favorite subjects at school are Art and science.

Wright is tutored during filming because she has yet to finish school, being only 16 years old. She has also begun driving lessons. When she is not filming, Bonnie attends King Alfred School, in London.

[edit] Career

Bonnie Wright was originally cast as Ginny Weasley for a small scene in the first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001), set in King's Cross. Her role became more prominent with the second movie, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), in which her character begins studies at Hogwarts while dealing with a very powerful secret diary that begins to seize her soul and consciousness. Wright's role in the third film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), was significantly smaller, leaving her with only one line of dialogue. However, the character became a bonafide supporting character in the fourth film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), with dialogue sprinkled across several scenes and perhaps the most screentime yet. She confirmed at the London premiere of Goblet of Fire that she would be returning for the fifth film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, due for release in 2007. In the book, Wright's character becomes more prominent and it is expected that her screen role will follow suit. [1] In recent interviews she has said she would be interested in continuing her role.

Wright has also starred in two television movies: 2002's Stranded and 2004's Agatha Christie: A Life in Pictures playing the younger version of Agatha Christie.

[edit] Quotes

  • "I like the spell where Dudley gets a pig's tail in number one. That would be quite a nice one to do on someone I didn't like."
  • "Well, it's magic! It's different from stories set in normal life." - On why she likes the Harry Potter books
  • "I like doing clay work. It's different from drawing on a page because you have something to mold into different shapes. It's quite visual, it's a thing you can hold and feel, and that makes it different from drawing."
  • "We just talked and kind of hooked up." - On seeing Daniel, Rupert and Emma off set
  • "[...] I don't love Harry!"
  • "He looks really mean on the outside, but he's really soft on the inside." - On Hagrid
  • "I like France quite a lot, and I like Italy."
  • "I have had a few people recognise me in public. But I wouldn't like everybody to recognise me. I can still walk across the street and not be noticed. If I was Daniel Radcliffe I think I would find it much harder to deal with." - On Stardom
  • "Gryffindor! It's the best and most exciting." - On what house she'd like to be in at Hogwarts
  • "My brother thought I was a lot like Ginny and I think I'm quite like her, too."
  • "Working with everyone was really fun but I think overall there's always something fun about every scene but I couldn't really pick on one scene, I think everything was just great."

From TIME Magazine:

If there's a real downside to growing up Potter, it's that your adolescence is on display in multiplexes the world over, in excruciating close-up. The most embarrassing part, though, can be when you're filmed kissing. When you see [the film] sometimes you can think, "Oh no, they used that bit!" says Bonnie Wright, 14, who plays Ron's little sister Ginny. "I think everyone sometimes feels intimidated by themselves when they see themselves on the screen." After all, it's hard enough figuring out who you are when you're a teenager. How much worse is it when you spend all day pretending to be someone else?"

Bonnie Wright, who's played the youngest of the Weasley clan since the first film, told us she finds herself reading ahead to see how Ginny is going to develop in future books. "It's strange to read the books knowing that you might be doing this one day.
