Bonnells Bay is a suburb in the west of the City of Lake Macquarie in New South Wales near Morisset. It is named after nearby Bonnells Bay, which is part of Lake Macquarie. The town was formerly known as Morisset East until 1948.

The area was subdivided in 1886, but no township was established until after World War II. The township grew, and a small shopping centre built, after the development of the Eraring Power Station in the 1980s. A school operated from 1912 onwards.

Bonnells Bay shops is a small comercial complex and consists of the Browns IGA Supermarket, a butcher, newsagent, two fish'n'chips take-aways, bakery, small medical centre, chemist, hairdressers, fruit shop, chinese take-away, video store, hardware store, bottleshop, motel and a pub. The complex is known to the locals as "The Bay".
