Juan Rashard Gardea (born March 6, 1990), known as "Bonet", formerly "Blax", is a budding, and promising American rapper. Bonet launched a very profitable album Do it Sober labeled "non-profit". This album illustrates Bonet's raw, and role-model lyrics, as well as a complicated multi-syllable rhyme scheme and deft use of literary elements such as assonance and metonymy.

[edit] Gist
As an upcoming rapper, Bonet focuses on the communication of ideas as well as a poetic and carefree style to deliver his music. He uses many references that relate not only to his neighborhood, but to his generation in its entirety. If he does become the succesful hip-hop artist some critics believe he has the potential to be, he would become the first rapper out of El Paso to do so.
Following the release of Do it Sober, Bonet played live in his hometown for little monetary exchange. With small record labels offering him sketchy deals, he continues to work on mixtapes and collaborations with larger, more well known individuals such as Lavadoshus and Mydmint.
[edit] Biography
[edit] Early years
Bonet was born in El Paso, TX with what family members call an extremely competitive mindset. Since he was a child, he believed being unconventional would lead to his success. Bonet currently attends Canutillo High School in Canutillo, TX and is a top student in the junior class. He's known for having an unparalleled work ethic, and is very business oriented.
As a child, Bonet listned to Rock Music often, as well as Rap. He began writing lyrics due to the influence of his neighbor, and fellow underground rapper Burnen Eislow also known as King Bud. Bonet's mother is mexican, and father is African-American, which is where initial rap name "Blax", short for "Blaxican" originated from. Around the age of 12, Bonet began rapping with Eislow, at first rapping about the hardships of his community, using many swears and gangster references.
After months of consistent rapping, Bonet took a break in order to pursue his mixed martial arts career. Succesfully making a reputation for himself in that business (illegally some claim), he then made a smooth return to rap. He came back with a more laid back style, preaching positivity, and utilizing less curse words than in previous work.
The best of his early compositions include unreleased, and scarce to find songs, including "Impassive" and "Like Ugly." In school, friends rarely knew he rapped, and only his best friend, and later to be musical agent, Raymond "Damante" Perez was knowing of his aspirations, although rarely motivated him to continue pursuing what Damante called, "a nearly impossible dream."
[edit] Rising Aspirations
Following his unconventional beliefs, Bonet became widely known in Texas without ever seeking a record deal or distribution contract. He convinced local studio owner of Lofem Records to allow him to record for a lower price than usual, in exchange for some of the profit. Prior to releasing his "no-budget, no-profit demonstration album," titled Do it Sober, he changed his stage name from Blax to Bonet, due to the originality of the name, as opposed to an already taken "Blax" and it's variations in the area "Blex" and "Blocks."
When his non-profit album hit the streets, there was, and continues to be much speculation about the profit grounds being breached, for it is estimated that he sold an approximate 12,000 copies. These, however are simply rumors, and have no backing, for the CDs were sold underground and not in stores.
[edit] Plans for the Future
As Bonet continues to make demonstrational tapes, much mystery circulates his future plans. Some consider his rapping to be that of a hobbyist's, and believe what he really wishes to pursue is writing books, or fighting. As it appears however, his plans are not certain even to himself. Although he aspires to become an underground rapper or possibly mainstream, his mind is set more on school, and less on "a habit he shows much prowess in," according to his friends.
