Bondage pants
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bondage pants are pants with superfluous zippers, straps, rings and buckles, all to give the appearance of a BDSM style. Often the pants will have a plaid design to them. Their name comes not from the fact they are tight, but because they come with long cords on them which can be hooked on to the many rings on the pants (or on the pants of another person). They come in a variety of sizes from tight to baggy, in shorts, capri, and long pants.
They are mainly worn by Punks, Ravers, Goths and various other related subcultures. They were initially popularized by the Sex Pistols in the 1970s. They were first believed to be created by Vivienne Westwood. Bondage pants have become a staple in mainstream culture with the popularity of Pop Punk and a co-oping of the culture. The pants are sold in a number of retailers and can be seen in any mall with a Hot Topic.
There are also companies that produce a baggy version of bondage pants such as Tripp NYC.
