[edit] Etymology

The etymology is doubtful: But rumour has it that the field between the Shrewsbury Road and Windsor Lane originally had a mere shaped like a bow, hence where "Bo" in Bo-Mere comes from; although the last element is certainly Old English mere "lake, mere".
