Bolton Braves

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bolton Braves are a junior American football team, located in Lancashire in the North West of England. They play 5-a-side (kitted) football. The flag team was established in the summer of 2003, but disbanded in 2006 as many of the players moved up to junior kitted (14-17 yrs old), which was formed in 2006. The Braves are well reknowned for their deep passing game, versatile runners and smashmouth defense, but have faced much adversity due to recruitment issues.

Beginning

The Braves were formed in 2003 after local youths discovered American football. More later...

2005

The 05 season was the teams first truly competitive season, with an influx of new players. Most notable of these were Danny 'Coop' Cooper (center), Kieran 'Boobie Jim' Jarret (running back), Jonny 'Cap' Glover (quarterback, Offensive Captain) and Chris 'LudaCod' Facchin (linebacker, Defensive Captain). At this point, the Braves were just a flag team and participated in a small number of BYAFA tournaments, aswell as the LAFFT (Lancashire American Flag Football Tournament), which was a series of games between the Braves, and the two Chorley Buccanneers teams (the Braves main rivals due to the close proxomity of the clubs). The Braves showed potential throughout the season, but a lack of experience often hindered them and the team finished with a losing record.
