Bolt Action Five are an dancepunk/industrial band from London, England, comprised of Tobias J Hughes, Ian William Galloway, Dan the Carnivore and Mark Meerkat. They formed in early 2006 from a variety of different members, and gained a large following throughout their first year, largely due to their highly energetic live shows and heavy touring schedule. They started to gain industry attention after their show at the first Latitude Festival in July 2006, and have appeared in repeatedly in Artrocker and PlayMusic magazines, as well as in NME, Disorder Magazine and various online music journals.

The band seem to have difficulty describing their sound, variously categorising themselves as indie/electro, industro-pop, dance punk, or electro-metal. and in interviews have listed influences as Devo, Nine Inch Nails, Wire, Price and Michael Jackson. They are often been compared to bands such as Klaxons and Shitdisco, part of the UK's growing New Rave scene, though this comparison could be said to owe more to their distinctively bright dress code than any musical 'Rave' affiliation. In press, they have also been compared to Enter Shikari, Dragonforce & Pop Will Eat Itself.

Their first single, "Tree Friend Tree Foe" was released in March 2007 on No Pain In Pop Records and featured a sleeve designed by Tobias Warwick-Jones. The first run was plagued by pressing problems. When the single finally arrived most of the copies had already been bought over the internet, or by independent stores in Asia and North America.
