Bolotnoye

Bolotnoye (Russian: Боло́тное, lit. Swampy) is a town in Novosibirsk Oblast, Russia, located some 126 km northeast of Novosibirsk. Population: 17,600 (2005 est.); 18,170 (2002 Census); 20,006 (1989 Census).

Bolotnoye was founded in 1805 as a settlement near the Siberian Route (Сибирский тракт) and one of its offshoots to Barnaul. The name of the town derives from the Russian word boloto (болото, or swamp). It was granted town status in 1943.
